Little did my, then, future mother-in-law know how many wedding treasures she had boxed away until we had spent the day going through storage bins, closets and sheds. It was so much fun uncovering old items, each holding a family memory and story for her to share with me. What a special blessing and privilege to share the time with her as we felt the thrill of discovery with every new find. (via Shabby Chic Wedding)
i think that chipped silver on the candle holders and the birds is called mercury glass… whatever it is called, i love it. and of course the chalkboard paint is too super sweet!
She grabbed some antique silverware from local shops for this rustic, mix & matched look – so much more affordable than buying a complete set. To tie in the wedding colors and give it a more modern look, the handles were hand painted using acrylic paint. It almost looks even prettier than new silver! (via 100 Layer Cake)

Doves are one of the rare wild creatures that mate for life, but their connection to love runs deeper than their devotion alone. In Hindu tradition, for example, they represent the infinite capacity the spirit has for love. Ohio baker Wendy Kromer placed elegant white gum-paste birds at opposite ends of a cake encircled in lush cream ribbon (also gum paste). The scene — two lovebirds have just finished stringing up ribbon in celebration of your romance — feels straight from a fairy tale. (via Dove-Inspired Wedding Cake - 50 Great Wedding Cakes)
